Contact Energy (NZ)

In October 2004, Origin purchased 51.4% interest in Contact Energy. With around 520,000 electricity customers and 75,000 gas customers, Contact is one of New Zealand’s largest energy retailers and generates around 27% of New Zealand’s electricity. Contact is listed on the New Zealand Stock Market, and has around 95,000 shareholders. It employs nearly 800 people and has its head office in Wellington.
