Solar schools

The Australian Government is offering your school up to $50,000 to help fight climate change, with the introduction of the National Solar Schools Program .

The Government's vision is for solar panels to be on the rooftop of every school in Australia. The program aims to make every Australian primary and secondary school a solar school by 2015. The National Solar Schools Program will offers grants of up to $50,000 (GST exclusive) to install solar power systems, rainwater tanks and a range of renewable energy and efficiency measures. Schools will be able to improve their energy and water efficiency as well as reduce their ongoing energy costs.

The Australian government has recently announced that almost 1400 schools have already signed up for solar (71KB) .

Schools installing a minimum of 2 kilowatt (KW) solar power system are eligible for a grant of up to $50,000 (GST exclusive), and if no solar power system or a system of less than 2kW is installed, a grant of up to $30,000 (GST exclusive) is available to be spent on eligible items, including rainwater tanks.
